. First Band Concert Honors Sister Rose
The parish school of Santo Domingo held a band concert and eleven band from various schools attended. .
Two girls from a local school carry their banner. .
. Sister Rose is seen with four teachers from Spain who are helping out in the schools of the area. Every year a group comes with Aranch Diaz (next to Sr. Rose). They take a month of their vacation time to accompany us. .
. This band came from Lourdes near the capital city of San Salvador. They won first prize in the competition!! . . Some of the younger children show off their costumes. . Even the younger children are learning to play instruments. . . Sister Rose awards a trophey to the winning band. . . The event was held at the school in Chiltiupan. Hopefully it will be a yearly tradition and will flourish. .
Spain and El Salvador Join Hands . Children from the parish school in Chiltiupan use some of the recreational toys donated by our partners in Spain.
Several years ago a group of teachers from Spain formed a non-profit organization called "por Un Pasito Mas". Over the years they have visited El Salvador and helped out especially with educational projects. Pictured above is the school, Obra Social Caja Madrid, which has offered much help. .
The school in Spain has a yearly fund-raising event and seen above are some of the students getting ready for their presentation. . . The turnout of parents for the event was great!!!
. Seen here are Arancha Diaz and Fr. Rob. Arancha is the real mover of the project and has involved many teachers and others. Every year Arancha and some of the teachers visit El Salvador.
